QUESTING CONFERENCE 2001

Saturday, 3 November Conway Hall, Red Lion Square,London WC1

- PROGRAMME -

10.00 OPENING ADDRESS - with Andrew Collins

Andrew Collins, historical writer, conference organiser will welcome delegates and open the day. He will discuss the very latest developments in the subject of alternative history, forbidden archaeology.

11.00 IAN LAWTON - Alternative History Research: Time for a Radical Shake-up

Ian Lawton, co-author GIZA: THE TRUTH will be proposing that a radical shake up of alternative history research is required. He will trace the development of the modern movement back to its nineteenth century roots, and show how various influential figures in the mid to late twentieth century pioneered the approaches that modern researchers have built upon. He will identify the main schools of thought, including the Anti-evolutionist, Atlantean and Ancient Astronaut schools, and evaluate the fundamentally different and often flawed paradigms on which they are based. He will also discuss his belief that a more spiritual reading of the ancient texts and traditions is required. Finally, in suggesting that there is far too little in-house peer review in the Alternative Movement, he will propose that the researchers involved need to be far more open to constructive criticism from their colleagues - as part of a responsible process of refining a more balanced worldview that the orthodoxy, despite its often underestimated strengths, fails to fully appreciate or investigate.

10 minute break

12.00 ADRIAN GILBERT - Opening the Star-gate and the Hermetic Philosophy

Last year Adrian Gilbert - co-author of THE ORION MYSTERY and THE MAYAN PROPHECIES, author of THE HOLY KINGDOM and SIGNS IN THE SKY - took a party of interested researchers to Egypt and Israel. Whilst there they witnessed an unusual celestial phenomenon: the symbolic opening of what is being referred to as the 'star-gate', with the solstice sun sitting exactly on top of the Khafre Pyramid. At the conference Adrian proposes to show slides of this event as well as others related to his next, as yet unpublished, book. These will show how the same astronomical ideas that inspired ancient Egypt under-pinned the world-view of philosophers in 17th century England.

12.50 Lunch

Sandwiches and light refreshments will be available. No food or drink in the hall, please.

1.50 DAVID ELKINGTON - In the Name of the Gods

David Elkington, author of IN THE NAME OF THE GODS, provides a scientific explanation for the basis of religion and spiritual practices. Giving examples from acoustic experiments at various ancient sacred sites, Elkington establishes an acoustic motive behind the construction of sacred buildings and further posits that the use of radon bearing granite and the positioning of buildings, including many churches and cathedrals, demonstrate that the builders knew the properties of these rocks and may have used the higher radiation present to help gain an expanded awareness. Citing the relationships between the frequencies of the human brain in expanded state (7-13Hz) and the dominating frequency of planetary resonance (around 8Hz.). Elkington builds a case for an ancient science as the root of early religions and also of Christianity. Using a study of names and places found in scripture and mythology, the roots of Christianity are traced to a far more ancient and worldwide phenomena which had an emphasis on chant and invocation in specially constructed places in order to attain heightened states of consciousness. Also, evidence of a temporary revival of this knowledge is revealed through a study of Gothic cathedrals.

10 minute break

2.50 LYNN PICKNETT & CLIVE PRINCE - Hess: Double Standards

The Rudolf Hess story is the perfect example of the crying need for 'alternative historians', bloody minded researchers who never believe a word of official stories and do their own delving, be it about ancient Egypt or Winston Churchill's wartime exploits. If the truth is out there, mainstream historians may well be the last to find it. In 1941 Hitler's Deputy Rudolf Hess flew to Scotland on a doomed peace mission and almost immediately disappeared into official obscurity, emerging only to be tried and condemned to life imprisonment at Nuremberg. To most people then, and indeed most people now, the official version - that he went mad, stole a plane and set off to enemy territory without Hitler's knowledge to meet up with a non-existent British peace party - is nothing more or less than the simple truth. Yet, Lynn Picknett and Clive Prince will demonstrate that not only is the official line the complete opposite of what really happened, but that the Hess mission was one of the most pivotal events of the 20th century - highly significant because it obscures the truth about the British establishment and what was really happening during the war. What now masquerades as history is very largely still old wartime propaganda. It seems that manipulating the facts was not merely a Soviet obsession. Lynn and Clive's research on this subject eventually became their book Double Standards (produced together with co-author Stephen Prior and historical researcher Robert Brydon), but their talk will include new material, such as Hess's link to Rosslyn Chapel and the truth about Otto Rahn's search for the Holy Grail at Montsegur.

10 minute break

3.50 LAURENCE GARDNER - Gold of the Watchers

Laurence Gardner, author of the international best sellers BLOODLINE OF THE HOLY GRAIL and GENESIS OF THE GRAIL KINGS, along with the recently released REALM OF THE RING LORDS, introduces brand new material from his recent research into the lineage of the Watchers and Nephilim. It is generally reckoned that ancient Mesopotamia was the earliest cradle of civilisation and that Sumerian script was the oldest form of sophisticated writing. However an older script, identical to that of Mesopotamia has been unearthed from 1000 years before in Transylvania. With names such as the Anunnaki god Enki inherent, it is now evident that the culture of the Watchers existed long before Sumerian times. The tribal warriors of the Carpathians were known as the Pict-sidhé (pixies) and the mummified remains of their seven-foot chiefs are better preserved than anything discovered in Egypt. Their Great Lord was Ur - a name eventually used for the Mesopotamian city state of Ur, and their citadel of the Anunnaki sky god Anu was not in Mesopotamia but way to the north on the Caspian Sea. While establishing their Kharsag agricultural settlement in Kurdistan, and prior to their municipal developments in Sumer and Akkad, the Watchers were active across Central Europe from Romania to Tibet. The astonishing golden accoutrements found in the royal graves at Ur were sourced from thousands of miles away beyond the Black Sea - from the world's richest gold reserves in Transylvania, where the Watchers established their primary mining community. This exclusive lecture is not to be missed.

20 minute tea break

5.10 MICHAEL CARMICHAEL

Following on from his highly successful lecture on drugs in ancient Egypt given at last year's conference, Michael Carmichael will deliver a key lecture on the origins of shamanism in cultural tradition that has shaped our heritage. Originating as the psychological technique to expand and intensify human consciousness and its principal components - perception and rationality - shamanism is the psychic fountainhead for art, science, magic, religion and medicine. >From Neolithic archaeological evidence only discovered in the past decade, shamanism clearly emerges as - not only the ancient intellectual paradigm of Neolithic culture - but also as definitely in control of scientific knowledge so advanced that it remains barely perceptible to modern science. Due to its psychological and rational pre-eminence in Neolithic culture, shamanistic traditions shaped the origins of civilisation. Dynastic Egypt, ancient China and Vedic India are three cases that will be investigated for shamanistic traditions. The legacy of shamanism extending through the classical, mediaeval, renaissance, enlightenment and modern periods will be presented from a critical analysis of an abundant array of evidence. Shamanistic trends emerging today across a broad spectrum of cultural development in: art, religion and science will be identified.

30 minute break

6.40 GRAHAM PHILLIPS - The Early Days

Graham Phillips, author of a large number of books such as THE GREEN STONE, KING ARTHUR: THE TRUE STORY, ACT OF GOD and THE MARIAN CONSPIRACY, will add a touch of amusement to the day. After a break in which delegates get a drink from the pub next door, Graham - in his annual lecture at the Questing Conference - will talk about his early life and exploits at boarding school! Not to be taken too seriously!
