In advance of the publication next year of his new book THE ATLANTIS
BLUEPRINT (co-authored with Canadian writer Rand Flem-ath), world
renowned crime writer and historian Colin Wilson began his lecture
by asking why Professor Charles Hapgood of Keene University, New
Hampshire, and the author of the classic work MAPS OF THE ANCIENT
SEA-KINGS, told Rand Flem-ath that he considered civilisation to
be 100,000 years old. The answer did not come easy. However, it
appeared to lie in the orientations of various sacred sites worldwide,
including Teotihuacan in central Mexico, which align to magnetic
north prior to the last crustal shift sometime around 9600 BC. |
It also concerns the findings of a curious figure named Bart Jordan,
a brilliant mathematician and professional musician who seems to have
been the person who convinced Hapgood of civilisation's greater antiquity.
Bart explained to Colin that the key lay in ancient metrology, which
showed that prehistoric man was aware of the exact size of the earth
and incorporated this knowledge into weights and measures that remained
in use through to the present world age. This work follows on from that
done by legendary writer John Michell, who has been attempting to demonstrate
much the same thing for over 30 years (by the way, John attended the
conference as a guest).
Colin
also presented the enigma of the mysterious prehistoric glass found
in Libya, apparently fashioned by ancient hands, and told the audience
how the discovery of Brown's Gas might provide an answer of how these
prehistoric peoples were able to melt rock to produce glass at such
an extraordinarily early age of mankind.
Colin's
entire lecture was an aural delight, and there is no question that he
could have gone on for much longer. I look forward to THE ATLANTIS BLUEPRINT,
which is scheduled for release in October 2000. As it is co-written
with Rand Flem-ath, the author with his wife Rose of WHEN THE SKY FELL,
which first appeared in 1995, there is no doubt that it will promote
the idea that Antarctica is Atlantis.
