CAROLINE WISE
Bridget has a dual aspect, one part associated with the return of the light in spring and the other as the ruler of the dark half of the year, from Samhain, or Hallowe'en, through till February (or even May). As the wheel of the year turns towards the cold dark period, when Glastonbury's terrestrial swan is aligned to sunset on the eve of the November cross-quarter day, Caroline explores and honours Bridget's counterpart, the Cailleach Bheur, or Hag of Winter. Her evocative presence rules and animates the wasteland until the Bride of Spring returns. Caroline reflects on the attributes and nature of the winter goddess in our psyche and in the landscape, which becomes important both to the Goddess's role in QuestCon's opening and closing acts, performed by Caroline and friends and the weekend's intended meditations out in the Glastonbury landscape.
