GRAHAM HANCOCK

Needing no introduction to QuestCon, writer and journalist Graham Hancock is one of the most brilliant minds ever to turn his attentions to the mysteries of human history. From his extraordinary quest in search of the Ark of the Covenant, outlined in his bestselling book THE SIGN AND THE SEAL (1993), to his grand reappraisals of the world's ancient civilizations in books such as FINGERPRINTS OF THE GODS (1995) and UNDERWORLD (2003), all have inspired a generation of seekers into the truth of the past.

Yet his most recent project has been to examine the mental processes and motivations behind the oldest art in the world, that of the Palaeolithic cave-artists of Europe and Africa.

This he concludes in his compelling book SUPERNATURAL (2005) is the product of interactions with very real denizens that inhabit a world that has co-existed with ours since the beginning of time. Their spectral appearance, manner of contact, and changing nature alter with time, as do their names. Fairies, hobgoblins, nature spirits, demons, devils, angels, aliens and elves have all been used to express the individuality of these intelligences that might well have been subtly affecting human evolution in unbelievable ways for tens if not hundreds of thousands of years.

Repeatedly, the means of interaction with these unseen, inhabited worlds has been induced trance states, either through rhythmic dancing and exhaustion, or, more commonly, the use of hallucinogens - psychotropic substances that break down the barriers of human perception and open up vistas of possibilities.

From the Palaeolithic shamans of Western Europe to the medicine men of the Upper Amazon - all still engage in these profound ritualistic practices, using sacred plants and mycetes to make contact with the supernatural.

At QuestCon07 Graham Hancock brings the QuestCon audience a fully updated presentation concerning his ongoing research into this profoundly important area of human experience, which is now the subject of a unique novel currently being written by Graham.
