PAUL WESTON

THE MICHAEL LINE AND THE LIGHTS OF KNOWLEDGE

Paul is a writer and visionary, living in Glastonbury, having moved here from Essex in the early 1990s. He is also putting the finishing touches on his first book AVALONIAN AEON, which tells the story of his magical life from his first attendance of a Glastonbury festival to his rollercoaster ride in the psychic questing world, following his acquantance with Andrew Collins in 1988. It will also contain arguably the fullest history of psychic questing from the Green Stone story of 1979 to the completion of the Seven Swords of Meonia saga in 1998.

Paul's presentation focuses on the Michael Line, a corridor of ancient and sacred sites stretching from St Michael's Mount in Cornwall to the Norfolk coast, many of which are dedicated to the well-known dragon-slaying saint. Among the sites falling on or close to the line are the Hurlers stone circle, St Michael's church, Brentor; Glastonbury St Mary Chapel and the Tor, Avebury stone circle, Wayland Smithy long barrow, the Royston caves and Bury St Edmund's Abbey.

More curiously, the Micheal line, first discovered by visionary earth mysteries guru John Michell in the 1960s, is orientated towards sunrise on the May cross-quarter day. It is an association that has given rise to its alternative name of the Beltane Line, with Beltane being the ancient Celtic festival once held at this time. The May cross-quarter day is also suspiciously close to St Michael's ancient feast day of 8th May, highlighting the line's clear solar alignment.

Much has been written about the Michael Line over the years, and by far the best book on the subject is Hamish Miller and Paul Broadhurst's seminal work THE SUN AND THE SERPENT, published in 1989. Yet in 1981, when the Michael Line was still relatively unknown outside the earth mysteries community, psychic questers Andrew Collins and Graham Phillips found themselves using it during a powerful vision quest in search of the wisdom and technology of the ancients. Physical guardians of sites were sought and consulted, and astral guardians approached amid some of the most extraordinary scenes of high weirdness on record. The relevance of many of the primary and secondary sites visited only became apparent following the publication of THE SUN AND SERPENT.

Paul Weston, who has made a study of this remarkable vision quest, describes the events and demonstrates the relationshop between the so-called Lights of Knowledge quest and the nine aspects of the Tree of Life utilized as a teaching aid among practitioners of the Hebrew qabalah. Paul also describes the profound events surrounding his own Michael Line rally in 1991, and the eventual discovery of an artefact representing the hidden dual nature of this spiritual backbone of ancient Albion.
