Ian Lawton

Ian Lawton is 41 years old and lives in Hamble, England. Formerly a qualified Economist and Chartered Accountant, since 1997 he has been a full time writer-researcher specialising in alternative history and ancient
civilizations. His first book, co-written with Chris Ogilvie-Herald, Giza: The Truth, published in 1999, has gained widespread acclaim for its in depth examination of the various theories surrounding the pyramids and the Sphinx.

His second book, Genesis Unveiled,is due out in the US in the spring of 2002. In it he unveils a radical new view of the ancient texts and traditions from around the world - that of their universal and still relevant warning about a highly spiritual previous race of mankind, who progressively forgot their spiritual roots until their debasement led to their karmic destruction.

The lecture:

Alternative History Research:- Time for a Radical Shake Up

Ian will be proposing that a radical shake up of alternative history research is required. He will trace the development of the modern movement back to its nineteenth century roots, and show how various influential figures in the mid to late twentieth century pioneered the approaches that modern researchers have built upon. He will identify the main schools of thought, including the Anti-evolutionist, Atlantean and Ancient Astronautschools, and evaluate the fundamentally different and often flawed paradigms on which they are based. He will also discuss his belief that a more spiritual reading of the ancient texts and traditions is required. Finally, in suggesting that their is far too little in-house peer review in the Alternative Movement, he will propose that the researchers involved need to be far more open to constructive criticism from their colleagues - as part of a responsible process of refining a more balanced worldview that the orthodoxy, despite its oft-underestimated strengths, fails to fully appreciate or investigate.
