Stone block of possible artificial construction off Grand Bahama in the north of the archipelago taken in July 1998. Although the stone does appear to have been manufactured, the question remains as to when, and where? Could it be an example of ship's ballast, disgorged by a colonial vessel after the age of Columbus? Or might it provide evidence of a pre-Columbian culture that inhabited low-lying drowned regions of the Bahamas and Caribbean before they were reclaimed by the sea in the post glacial age? This matter simply cries out for further investigation.
